Baptism is most simply stated as an outward public statement about what God has done in your life. It is a way of identifying yourself with other Christians who have trusted Christ as their Savior.
If you have trusted Christ as Savior and Lord, then the next step for you is baptism. Jesus did it and He commanded us to do it as well. (Matthew 28:19)
Baptism is the picture, a metaphor you might say, of the death, burial, and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. (Romans 6:3-4) It is a statement that you believe in the Jesus who was crucified, buried, and resurrected for the forgiveness of your sins. It is also symbolic of the washing away of your sins that Christ does when you repent. Not that baptism itself washes you clean of any sins, but it is a statement that Jesus has done this in my life.
In order to be baptized here at First Baptist Church you need to:
1. Trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior
2. Meet with one of our pastors to discuss your desire for baptism.
If you are in need of baptism please let one of our pastors know so they can counsel you on this important decision and so that they can schedule a time for you to be baptized.
